A woman who worked at a group home for handicapped individuals has claimed that she was fired for complaining to a supervisor about abuse and neglect. The woman says that she told her supervisor about another employee who, while working at the group home, would bring an autistic woman with her but lock her in a car so that she could get paid to work two jobs.
Although the allegedly abusive employee did not come back to the group home, the woman says that her supervisor fired her because her supervisor and the employee who was complained about were friends. The supervisor claimed that the woman threatened her and so the supervisor fired the woman without unemployment compensation.
The woman then went to court and won unemployment compensation, though appropriate agencies will still further investigate the incident.
