A federally mediated settlement will require Gold’n Plump Inc. to make new accommodations for their employees religious practices. This comes a year after a complaint was filed by the Somali Muslim group to the Equal Employment Opportunities Commission claiming they were facing religious discrimination from the company.
Under the terms of the condition, which are still awaiting approval by a federal judge, Gold’n Plump will allow an extra ten minute break and will not require its workers to handle pork as a condition of their employment. Many Muslims view pigs as unclean and consider hanlding and selling pork against their religious beliefs.
If you or someone you know has faced discrimination in the workplace because of your age, sex, race, religion, disability, or sexual orientation you have the right to recover damages for your losses.
